Betty Louise Staggs Neese was born January 17, 1929, to Jim and Louise Staggs in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was their only child. She married Jerry Dale Neese November 30, 1946, and they commenced having 12 children: Shirley (Neese) Goldstein, Stephen Neese, Jerry Neese, Jr., Marsha (Neese) Mooney, Jeffrey Neese, Theresa Neese, Timothy Neese, Mark Kimberly Neese, Eric Neese, Amy (Neese) Minor, Monna (Neese) Goodman, and Kirk Neese. These 12 children have produced 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was a loyal wife to Jerry for 62 years and missed him deeply every day since his death 7 years ago.
Betty was a wonderful mother and made each of her children think that they were her favorite. Her grandchildren adored her. She was a loving and caring mother-in-law and accepted them as her own.
She visited the Hardees near her home on Covert Avenue almost every morning and was a delight to her friends and staff and they will miss her.
Betty was a talker. She loved talking about politics, and about religion, but most importantly, about her family.
Betty and Jerry survived the tornado of 2005 and were on the Bill O’Reilly show. They were the two sweethearts that thought they had lost each other only to be reunited in the hospital.
The family wants to deeply thank the nurses and techs at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Gentiva Hospice Nursing Staff, and a special thank you to Brittany on the 5th floor. They truly demonstrated love for Betty.
Mom lived a life of ‘Serendipity” and made her own sunshine on the cloudy days.
Betty’s memorial service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, November 1, 2015 at the Unity of Evansville, 4118 Pollack Avenue, officiated by Pastor Glenda Walden.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice. Condolences may be made online at www.AlexanderEastChapel.com.
