She worked during WWII at Republic Aviation and then was a homemaker. Lurlene and her husband enjoyed traveling and camping throughout the region for most of their lives. She also enjoyed gardening. Lurlene was a member of the West Side Church of Christ for over 65 years.
Lurlene was preceded in death by her parents, Lucille (Lipe) and Beckham East; husband Vernon Johnson; great grandson, Tyler Eveland. She married Vernon Johnson on January 22, 1946 in Biloxi, MS., and they celebrated 61 years together.
She is survived by her daughter, Marty Ziegler; son, Kenneth Johnson (Kay); daughter, Terri Wildrick (Doug); grandchildren, Mark (Sheri) Ziegler, Tara (Shawn) Eveland, Erin (Jeremiah) Meece, Ray (Aya) Wildrick, and Falon Wildrick; great grandchildren, Aiden Ziegler; Isaiah, Jordan, Landon, Keaton Eveland; Jackson, Knox, Lucas Meece; Sasha and Shane Wildrick.
Lurlene’s family extends a special thank you to the staff of Auguste’s Cottage and Dr. Merral Lewis.
Due to covid, a private service will be held with burial in Locust Hill Cemetery.
