Following her husband’s death she invested her time in her work, retiring in 1993 from Mead Johnsons as a well-respected member of the accounts payable department for 45 years. Anna was an active member of the American Business-Women’s Association since 1978.
She was a member of Blue Grass United Methodist Church where she had been very active for over 40 years. Anna loved children and animals, and was very generous, a very good cook, and enjoyed working with ceramics. Anna will be missed dearly by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 12 years, James R. Smith in 1962; parents, Harry O. and Dovie C. (Burns) Evinger; brothers, Harry Evinger, Jr. , Kenneth Evinger, and Reverend Billy J. Evinger; sisters, Eileen Roberts, Helen Smith, and Marilyn Jo Dever.
Anna is survived by her dear friend and caregiver, Reverend Ruth Milgate; many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and was especially close to nieces Vonciele Slack and Jolee Quates and nephew, Steve Evinger.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Heritage Center – Hearth Side for their loving care over the last six years.
Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, January 13, 2011, at Blue Grass United Methodist Church, 14240 Petersburg Road, officiated by Rev. Ruth Milgate and Rev. Doug Heiman with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road. Friends may also visit Thursday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blue Grass United Methodist Church or Ruth’s House.
