Albert J. Holajter, 92, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017, at West River Health Campus. He was born June 4, 1924, in Hammond, IN, to the late Michael and Elizabeth (Plentzner) Holajter.
He lived in Northwest Indiana for 76 years and worked as a production manager in the steel mills for 35 years in Lake County, IN, “the Region.” Albert served in the US Army in California and Texas from 1943 to 1946. He was a lifelong Cubs and Bears fan and was an avid sports fan, coaching little league and sports with his sons. He instilled a love of sports and pets into his sons. Albert took care of his late wife of 65 years, Barbara, during her illness, until her passing in 2012. He and Barbara helped babysit and raise their great-granddaughter, Kenzie, during her preschool years. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
Albert was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Barbara.
He is survived by his sons, David (Carol) and Stephan (Susan) Holajter; granddaughters, Erin (Ty) Holajter-Baxter and Casey (Jared) Maddox; and great-grandchildren, Kenzie, Brennen, Reese, and Cora.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Christ the King Catholic Church, officiated by Fr. Alex Zenthoefer, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. No public visitation will be held.
