

Mary Lou Martinez passed away peacefully on February 2, 2013, at the age of 84 years. She was born in Nogales, Sonora, on September 18, 1928. She married Phillip M. Martinez of Tucson, Arizona, on December 13, 1946, and they moved to California with their children in 1954 to purse a better Life. Mary and Phillip lived in Escondido, CA since 1957.
She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Reagan of Ocala, Florida, and Lily Guthrie of Fallbrook, California, and two sons, Felipe Martinez of Escondido, California, and David Martinez of San Diego, California. Mary loved and was proud of her family, including her seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
During her lifetime, Mary was involved in many entrepreneurial endeavors, including catering special events, designing and baking wedding cakes and making and selling floral arrangements. She also loved to dance and travel and was active in her church. Her belief that, “you can be whatever you want to be,” and, “you can make a positive difference,” are values she instilled in the many people she touched and loved. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend and will be greatly missed.
Memorial services will be held on February 7, 2013 at the chapel at Emmanuel Faith Community Church located at 639 E. Felicita Ave., Escondido, CA 92025.
