Elaine was born in Rockford, Illinois, on March 16, 1923, to Edward and Ethel Tureson. She met her husband, Theodore ‘Ted’ Lewis, and they were later married on May 30, 1942. Together they raised their four daughters while he served in the U.S. Army. Ted and Elaine moved multiple times before settling in Valley Center, California. Elaine spent many years working in various nutrition stores, but her favorite was always Lindberg Nutrition. After retiring, Ted and Elaine were visiting family in Utah when Ted unexpectedly passed away just after their forty-seventh wedding anniversary.
Elaine never remarried and soon moved to Utah to be close to her family. She lived alone in Stansbury Park, Utah, for nearly twenty-five years, watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. Elaine enjoyed traveling, renovating old homes, and gardening. She loved to write letters to friends, and she never missed an opportunity to send a card, especially for birthdays and anniversaries. Elaine loved irises, Neil Diamond, the color purple, eating dessert, a poised appearance, and having the best kept yard on the cul de sac. Elaine especially loved spending time with her ever-growing family, whether gathered for Christmas Eve or Mother’s Day Brunch.
Elaine is survived by her four daughters, Susan (Henry) Clites, Linda (Larry) Theetge, Diane, and Ceri; her nine grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore, her parents, Edward and Ethel, her siblings, Edward and Eileen (Frank), and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held at the Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at 7 pm, and the viewing at 6 pm. Burial will take place in the Oakhill Memorial Park in Escondido, California, with a memorial service to follow there.
The Lewis family would like to thank the caring Active Home Health and Hospice team and the compassionate caregivers at Meadow Peak Rehabilitation. In lieu of flowers or donations, spread kindness to loved ones and a smile to strangers as Elaine always did.
