BAUMGARTNER, David Morrell 90 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016. David was born October 9, 1925 a son of Frederick Thomas & Leah K. Baumgartner. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Donald M. and brother Fred. David leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 63 years Marilyn (nee Gaunce) Baumgartner, two daughters and sons-in-law Ann & Timothy Schnapp, Susan & Robert Haas, son and daughter-in-law Douglas & Darlene Baumgartner. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. David was a graduate of Hamilton High School Class of 1943, served in the U.S. Army as an Infantryman during WW II. He received his Bachelor of Music in Cello & Horn from Eastman School of Music, he received his Master of Music in Cello from the University of Michigan. He played with the National Symphony in Washington D.C.; Huntington Symphony, Huntington, WV; Dayton Philharmonic being Principal Cellist for 23 years. David also performed in the Columbus Symphony and Lakeside Summer Symphony, and others, as well as the French Horn in numerous bands, and he taught privately. There will be a memorial service and interment at Lakeside, Ohio at a later date.
