Tad August Griggs

Tad attended Venice Nokomis High School, in Nokomis, FL. He played Varsity football and was an active member of the Math and Science Clubs. Tad attended the University of Florida, Gainesville, FL

He worked with his brothers for their father in Griggs Excavating and Land Development.

He was the son of the late Glen Griggs and Helen Griggs and brothers, Ralph and Mark Griggs. Tad’s wife, Helen Hamilton Griggs predeceased him.

Tad married Helen Hamilton on January 31, 1958, in Pearson, GA. One daughter was born to the happy couple, Deborah “Debbie” Griggs (Mrs. Tom Dixon.)

He was a Deacon for the First Baptist Church of Englewood, FL

Tad leaves his daughter, Debbie, son-in-law Tom Dixon, granddaughter, Heather Ann Dixon. And a host of loving sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles and longtime neighbors and friends.

Visitation will be at Kays-Ponger and Uselton Funeral Home, 1935 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice, FL on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Graveside service will be at Gulf Pines Memorial Park, 2401 Englewood Road, Englewood on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
