Patti was born in Red Bank New Jersey to James Edward (Ed) and Caroline Vandervort on February 23, 1956. She went to school in Neptune, New Jersey where she graduated high school in 1974. She then moved to Boston where she went into the finance field and worked at a large bank. She began learning the mortgage industry there and eventually moved to Florida to continue her knowledge and expertise in this field. She eventually settled in Jacksonville, Florida, where she lived for over 30 years.
In Jacksonville, she focused her career in the mortgage field and worked as a very highly skilled and esteemed mortgage processor and as an approved FHA, VA and conventional underwriter. Continuing on in this field, she then became a mortgage wholesale originator and office manager for several mortgage companies. She was well known in the mortgage industry in Jacksonville, other cities in Florida and government agencies as a knowledgeable resource and problem solver. She retired from this field in 2013.
She loved Englewood so much that she and her husband purchased a home in this paradise in 2010 and has been a permanent resident here for the last five years.
Patti enjoyed everything to do with the water. She would walk to the beach daily and spent her mornings strolling the beach finding unique and impressive shells. She loved to garden and plant shrubs and flowers around the home and care for them with her phenomenal green thumb. She loved to fish and take rides on the boat when she was not fishing. However, her greatest hobby was getting to know everyone around her, wherever that may have been. She loved to be around people and engage with them. She also loved animals almost as much as she did the people she met.
Patti is survived by her spouse and love of her life, Richard (Rich) Alfirevic of 23 years of marriage, her Mother, Caroline H. Vandervort of Whiting, NJ, and brothers, Leonard Vandervort of Sierra Vista, AZ, James (Caroline) Vandervort of Neptune, NJ, Glenn (Cindy) Vandervort of Neptune, NJ, and Richard (Anita) Vandervort of West Palm Beach, FL, along with many nieces and nephews and from her marriage, her stepdaughter and son-in-law Alexis and Ridge McDaniel and two grandchildren which she adored, Rayleigh and Charleigh.
