Letetia M. Mercier

On October 30th 2022, Englewood lost a caring member of the community when Joan Letetia Mercier (Tish), age 77, passed away peacefully. Tish was born in Atlanta, GA in July of 1945, to Pierce and Lorene May.

Tish’s legacy will be carried on by her children Julia Mercier, Chip and Stephanie Mercier and Anna and Craig Taylor; her seven grandchildren who will always remember her as “Gammie;” three great-grandchildren; and her sister, Deborah Johnston.

She spent much of her life giving back to the Englewood community through her CPA firm and involvement with the Community Foundation of Sarasota’s Daniels Scholarship Committee, Englewood Chamber of Commerce (President 1984-1985), and supported numerous non-profit and economic development organizations over her lifetime.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, December 3rd, 2022, at 2:00 pm in the Englewood United Methodist Church Sanctuary. All are welcome to attend and share memories of her life with friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in her honor be sent to the Englewood Youth Foundation (PO Box 176, Englewood, FL 34295).
