John Richard Fathauer, age 82 passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2024 in Venice, FL. Born on July 27, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio, John moved to Venice in 1971 where he established his life and career.
John dedicated 33 years to his profession as a land surveyor, a role that underscored his meticulous nature and commitment to precision. Outside of his professional life, John was an avid gardener and enjoyed watching college football, passions that brought him much joy and relaxation.
He was a man of profound kindness and generosity, his attributes were evident in his love and laughter shared with family and friends. John's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife of 52 years, Rosemary E. Fathauer, his children, Richard Fathauer and wife Jackie Hilston, Robin Estep and husband Timothy, and Russell Fathauer all of Venice Florida. He was a proud grandfather to Stephanie Manuel and husband Aaron, Joseph Estep and wife Adrianna, Alan Gaunt and his wife Shaunna, and a great-grandfather to Emma McMullen, Jacob Manuel, Mason Gaunt, Bodie Gaunt, Jude Gaunt and Emilia Estep. He leaves behind not only his immediate family but also many cherished family friends.
John was predeceased in death by his parents, Winfred and William Fathauer, and his son, Mike Fathauer.
A memorial service will be held to honor John's life on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Peace, located at Gulf Pines Memorial Park, 2401 Englewood Rd, Englewood, FL 34223.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to TIdeWell Hospice, Florida Cancer Specialist Lymphoma Foundation, or Tampa General Cancer Unit, organizations that reflect John's compassionate spirit.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Gulf Pines Memorial Park for their support and assistance during this time. John's memory will forever be cherished through the lives he touched and the love he shared.
