(June 7, 1927 – December 5, 2020)
We lost a most loved one who peacefully found eternal rest alongside his beloved wife, Jo, in that house not made with hands. There was no kinder man. Always quick with a smile, Glen was cheerful, resilient, adaptive, handy, and, indeed, tough. His helping hand was always outreached; he never met a stranger.
A lifelong resident of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, his most cherished memories came from time spent with his family and friends on beautiful Norwegian Lake. He described his twilight years in Englewood, Florida, as time in paradise.
Regardless of place, he shared so much joy freely distributing his handmade pins that spoke to his love for America, the bright spirit of the respective season, and the Green Bay Packers; every lucky recipient wore them with pride. He also gave and received more hugs than anyone in town. Dad loved live music and introduced whole communities to his unique style of dancing (affectionately known as “The Glen-O”) which made all the others in the place feel like they could actually dance, too. Always so much fun! The song, “Girl Crush,” was his favorite.
His legacy includes honorable service in the United States Navy and a long career in banking; but, moreover, his wonderful daughters – Mary and Julie – who share his kind heart and keen sense of humor. He will live on through his Grandson CJ (Lisa) and his incredible Great Granddaughter Brooke Rae. In addition, his son-in-law, Frank Crispigna, survives him.
Perhaps you have heard that life is not about one’s date of birth or death, but how we live our “dash.” The Christmas movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” is instructive. However, those who were so blessed to share a breath with Glen got to experience it in real time. His footprints – like the glory within his dash - are everlasting.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you raise a glass in fond remembrance of a life well lived, and make a donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
