Ellen Mary Stansky

Ellen was born on November 22, 1931 in Glen Carbon, PA, the daughter of Myles and Nellie (Johnson) Scully. She graduated from Wharton (N.J.) High School in 1948, and was described as personality plus, full of fun, nice hair and mannerly.

Ellen married William V. Stansky on June 6, 1953 at St. Mary’s Church in Wharton. She worked as a telephone operator and service representative with NJ Bell and later Verizon. She was very active in the Dover Emblem Club, Election Board, PTA, and a volunteer for Dover General Hospital, to name a few. She loved being in her kitchen with her apron on, knitting afghans for all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening, and reading romance novels were some of her favorite hobbies.

Ellen was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Dover and St. Mary’s Church in Wharton.

She is predeceased by her husband, William, her brothers Michael and Aloysius, and sister, Rita; she is survived by her two sons, William of Englewood, FL and Richard of Cape Coral, FL and her daughter-in-law, Tammy of Cape Coral, FL. Ellen loved her grandchildren, Elizabeth Stansky, the late Alexander Stansky, Shannon Gormley, Adam Stansky, Autumn Stansky, and Madison McNabb; along with her two great grandchildren, Brynne and Abigail. Remaining to cherish Ellen’s memory are numerous nieces and nephews across the country.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 2nd, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. at Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton, NJ. Funeral/Memorial services will be held on May 3rd at St. Mary’s Church in Wharton. Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery in Dover.

Memorial donations in Ellen’s memory may be directed to Tidewell Hospice in Englewood, Florida and Heritage Oaks Assisted Living Center in Englewood Florida.
