Edward F. (Eddie) Shortt, 89, of Englewood, FL (formally of Sandy Hook, CT) died Sunday, December 26, 2021 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital surrounded by family. He was the beloved husband of 65 years of Ellen S. Hunihan Shortt. Edward was born in Southbury, CT December 1, 1932 a son of the late Henry Shortt and Mary O’Neil Shortt.
Edward was the Proprietor of Shortt’s Arco Service Station in Southbury, CT and F&S Auto Parts, Inc. in Roxbury, CT for many years.
He is also survived by his daughters Joyce Schoonmaker and her husband Walter and Donna Longo and her husband Bob; his son Edward Shortt, Jr. and his wife Dawn, all of Englewood; his grandchildren Robert and his wife Ashley, Tyler and Brittany Longo, Ally and Rory Shortt; his great grandchildren Ricky and Landon Longo; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers Jack and James Shortt, and his sisters Agnes Georgia, Helen Tessier and Eleanor Shortt.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Raphael Catholic Church, Englewood on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 10:00am with interment to the St. Raphael’s Memorial Garden to follow.
