David (Dave) Fellows passed away on April 14th, 2022 in Englewood Florida. He was proceeded in death by his parents Ansel Lee Fellows and Isabel Gilbert Fellows, a wife Belva Stewart and his sister Karla Walkley (husband Mike Walkley survives).
He leaves behind a sister Carol Spycher and her husband John Spycher, two children, Russ and Julie Fellows, his first wife Janet Fellows along with 3 grandchildren: Jonathan Fellows, Benjamin and Brandon Fellows-Mason.
Dave grew up on a farm in the small farming town of Waldron in Southern Michigan. Dave spent the majority of his time working on his parents’ farm and playing sports. After high school Dave attended Michigan State University where he met his future bride Janet Booth. The two were wed on January 28th 1961, in Oxford Ohio. Both Janet and Dave graduated from MSU and headed West to settle down in Denver Colorado in the summer of 1962.
Dave and Jan had two children, Russ born in 1964 and Julie in 1965. Dave worked as a teacher in Colorado’s public schools while also earning a master’s degree in education. Dave met many lifelong friends during this time, several of whom he continued to spend time with up until his death.
After time as an assistant H.S. principal Dave began teaching business classes at Red Rocks Community College just outside of Denver. Here, Dave became friends with many of his colleagues and enjoyed luncheons with his fellow Red Rock retirees later in life.
Upon retiring in 1997 at the young age of 57 Dave spent his time traveling and visiting friends and family across the country. Dave once again settled down and married Belva Stewart, splitting their time between Colorado, Michigan and Florida. Enjoying the warm weather, Dave moved to Florida full time in 2020 until his passing in 2022.
Dave’s family is planning several opportunities for loved-ones and friends to gather and celebrate Dave's life. Events are tentatively planned for early June in both Colorado and Michigan - with details in the coming weeks.
