away Monday, December 5, at home. She was surrounded by her family.
Born in South Lorain, OH in 1941, Connie was a graduate of Lorain High School
class of 1959 B. She was a member of the Acapella Choir. After graduation, she
went to work at US Steel until she married her husband of 60 years, Al Fitch.
Connie had a ceramic shop in her basement in Lorain and loved teaching
ceramics, in the company of her friends. She was so talented and creative. She
could sew anything, remodel a house, overhaul an engine or practice baseball
with her grandsons. A jack of all trades.
She never met a stranger. She accepted and befriended everyone without
judgement. A type of surrogate mother to so many teens.
In 1986 she moved to Englewood, FL with her family, where she lived for the last
36 years. There was nothing she loved more than her family. She enjoyed
watching her 8 grandchildren, and more recently,10 great grandchildren. They
were her life. She was the embodiment of the word matriarch, and that is her
most proud legacy.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Sherry and her son Rick. There was
a celebration of love in heaven when they were reunited.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Alfred (Al) Fitch; daughter Karen
Fitch Hale (Mike); son Alan (Al) Fitch (Kelley); grandchildren Alan Fitch (Crystal);
Dustin Fitch (Alyssa); Samantha Fitch; Ricky Fitch (Lynde); Sierra Adams (Tyler);
Hannah Fitch (Tucker); Tyler Hale; Brian Hale; and 10 great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at Kays-Ponger and Uselton Funeral Home,
1935 S Tamiami Trail, Venice, FL 34293 Thursday December 8, from 2:00-4:00 pm.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.lemonbayfh.com for the Fitch family.
