Robert A Wallace, 79, of Carlsbad CA, passed away on, November 23rd 2022 at home after a courageous six and a half year battle with cancer. Born, May 29, 1943 in St. Paul, MN to his parents James Wallace and Hazel (Gunderson) Wallace. Bob lived on a farm in Pine Bend, MN in his early years and it is said that at the age of eight he and his identical twin brother, Dick, drove a tractor through the barn door resulting in Bob breaking his nose. When he was 10 the family moved to Inver Grove Heights, MN. He spent his summers at Boy Scouts camps working and obtained his Eagle Scout Badge. In the winters he played hockey on frozen local ponds. He graduated from South St Paul High School in 1961 and entered Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, MN where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in 1965 and played hockey. He was an active member of the Kappa Sigma Chi fraternity. Upon graduating, he married his lifetime soulmate Glenda, whom he met at college and was married for fifty-seven years.
He was employed in sales by NCR in St Paul and subsequently transferred to Boston with Control Data Corporation. In 1970 he joined BASF Corporation retiring as New England Sales Manager in 1995.Bob enjoyed coaching many of his children’s athletic teams. He and Glenda enjoyed traveling domestically and internationally for hiking, biking, skiing. Following retirement, he and Glenda moved from North Andover, MA to their dream home on Sebago Lake, Maine, entertaining family and friends. In 2008, they bought a home in Carlsbad, CA near their daughter, and moved full time in 2017. Bob’s family and friends will always cherish his warm and fun personality.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Glenda (Cartford) Wallace, son Jeffrey Wallace and his wife Terri Donahue Wallace of Natick, MA and grandsons, Jake, Owen, Drew. Daughter Kristin Wallace Livezey and her husband Tom Livezey of Encinitas, CA and grandchildren Jocelyn and Luke. Bob loved and was very proud of his children and grandchildren. Brother, Dick Wallace and wife Linda of Sacramento, CA, Sister Pat Ruble of Mendota Heights and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and friends.
