Stephen Joseph Mueller

Stephen J. Mueller, of Parrish, passed away peacefully at the age of 74 on January 7, 2023. His passing leaves behind his two sons, Jason (Jennifer) Mueller of Winter Haven and John (Julie) Mueller of Parrish and his three grandsons, Jared, Kyle and Braden. Steve was preceded in death by his wife Joyce, parents Raymond and Patricia Mueller and sister, Susan Beres.

Steve was born on June 29, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University in 1971 where he met the love of his life, Joyce Kelley. Steve and Joyce were married in 1973 and lived in various places across the Midwest and Florida until they moved to Parrish in 2007.

Steve was heartbroken to lose Joyce after her battle with cancer in 2010. He found love again in 2012 when he met Wyli Barnes, who blessed him with a life that he loved until the day he passed. Steve was a quiet gentleman with a big heart. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, gardening, watching old Westerns and following the Chicago Bears and White Sox. He recently retired from Southern Supply Company in Sarasota. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023, from 5-7 p.m. at Groover Funeral Home, 1400 36th Avenue East, Ellenton, FL 34222. A funeral mass will be celebrated in honor of Steve on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Francis Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church, 12001 69th Street East, Parrish, FL 34219.
