As one of 12 children, Miguelin was surrounded by the joys that come with having a large family.
After moving from Puerto Rico to NJ in 1966, Miguelin spent his years working for Trio Dye and the Windsor Academy School. HE enlisted in the Army in 1953 and he was Honorable Discharge in 1955.
He was a devoted husband to belated wife, devoted father to his daughters, grandchildren & great grandchildren.
He was known for his witty personality, having a great smile, and his unwavering faith.
He was a volunteer at St John’s Cathedral in Paterson, NJ where he along with his belated wife were recognized as “Founding Members” due to their unwavering work in founding the Spanish. Charismatic Renewal movement as well their contribution during the renovation of the historic building which held the church. His dedication and love for St. John’s Cathedral was recognized by the many honors including a Papal blessing during the celebration of his 50th wedding anniversary.
He was a 3rd Degree Knight of the Spanish Council of the St John’s Cathedral Knights of Columbus.
After relocating to Florida in 2005, he settled in Palmetto where he found a new home at Holy Cross Catholic Church where he quickly became a devoted member. He served as an Adult Altar Server during his daily devotional attendance at mass. He was devoted and would attend services every Sunday.
In his spare time, Miguelin enjoyed walking, reading his cowboy novels in Spanish (he would always have one stashed in his pocket) and loved to read his bible, praying the rosary and spending time with family and friends. He will always be remembered by his infectious laugh. He touched many lives with just a smile, a hug or a joke.
Miguelin was predeceased by his wife Libertad Rivera and his surviving daughters Carmen Martinez (Miguel Martinez, husband), Sonia Rivera, and Myrna Rivera. He had 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He also had a large extended number of family and friends he considered family.
