Mary Saxton

Mary Veronica Saxton passed away in comfort at the Bayfront Medical Plaza's Suncoast Hospice Care Center in St Petersburg, Florida January 11th at approximately 11:45 pm. For seven months she fought to recover after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke in late June of 2022. She is now at peace and can rest easy in the arms of God.

Throughout the span of a long and eventful life she traveled Europe and spent time in Venice, Italy, labored lovingly over hand-sewn Halloween costumes, had a fulfilling career, and successfully navigated the difficult waters of raising children as a single mother. On holidays Mary never failed to make our home feel wonderful and warm, with an overwhelming bounty of food on the table where she displayed her adept talents of cooking homemade meals from scratch. She was also an avid crafter and personally made many handmade gifts for friends, and family, taking the initiative to provide any expecting parent with a lovingly crafted blanket for their newborn child. She loved music and would often listen to her favorite band Journey and had a soft spot for their lead singer Steve Perry.

A woman of faith, her belief in the Catholic religion was very important to her. She was an active member of St. Frances Cabrini Church where she found a strong sense of community with it's patrons, many of whom she called friends. Outside of her religious life she had many friends in her neighborhood. Known for being honest, kind, and outspoken, it was unanimously agreed "It was hard not to like Mary".

Mary is survived by her three children, Phillip, Christopher, and Stephanie Saxton, her two pet cats Sora and Riku, and her boxer Gracie. May her memory burn as bright as her personality. Rest in peace, for all eternity, with love from us all.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Frances X Cabrini Church 12001 69th St East Parrish Florida 34219 in Mary's name, as the church and it's community were very important to her.
