What an honor to be the guest speaker at William Carey Academy for graduation! It was an amazing experience and Jim was always supportive and encouraging! I will miss him dearly but I know where he is and that gives me joy and hope!

Imagine the joy Jim is knowing now, being in the presence of his Savior Jesus! This was me teasing him about his tie from China and not knowing the meaning of the inscription…. I told him it must say, this is a good day for a wedding!  LOL

I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Mr. Long. Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time.
I remember the time when we all gathered for our senior trip, and Mr. Long was at the center of it all, radiating warmth and joy. His laughter and kindness filled the room, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to be in his presence. 
I have a vivid recollection of a moment when we united for our senior trip. It was at a quaint Malaysian eatery where we had the pleasure of sharing a dinner with fellow alumni. There was something truly infectious about Mr. Long's laughter; it had the remarkable ability to spread like wildfire, resulting in a chorus of laughter from everyone seated around the table. It's moments like these that remind us of the wonderful person he was and the beautiful memories he has left behind.
While we mourn his absence, let's also celebrate the life he lived and the impact he had on all of us. May you find comfort in the shared stories, laughter, and love that will forever keep his memory alive in our hearts.

Dear Marilou & family,
Remembering our first meeting you & Jim at LAX, as you graciously accompanied our young daughter Jaclyn, who was flying alone to meet her Aunt Mary in BD.
(Jacky is now in process to obtain her PhD in Social-cultural Anthropology, at Western University, here in London Ont. )
While we here now are saying so long in Jim's passing, there is another horizon where he is eagerly being welcomed, and rejoiced. Blessings to all. Bill, Lucy, & Jaclyn.

Dear Marilou, I loved to hear Jim laugh. I loved to see his smile. He’s in the peaceful presence of the Messiah, of whom they sang last Christmas time when we shared listening to the Messiah! Wonderful memories! We miss him! Love with prayers,

Pam and I met Jim and Marilou when we served in Bangladesh in the mid-eighties. As fellow educators in a field dominated by its focus on medical missions, we found natural allies in Jim and Marilou and spoke often of our common concern to see the name of Christ established among the children of the nation. Many years later Jim and Marilou acted upon that concern in establishing William Carey Academy in what was then called Chittagong.

For twenty-five years WCA has been a beacon of hope and vibrant Christian witness in that nation, providing an education whose quality for excellence and integrity is recognized across the country, even where the name of Christ is not well known. While Marilou’s ongoing leadership at the school is well recognized and appreciated, Jim’s gracious and genial nature, his natural gifts of administration and hospitality, were fundamentally important to the establishment and the running of the school in those early years.  

Jim was a dynamic and irrepressible leader. To be invited to one of the meals at his house was the closest most of us will get to being invited to a state dinner. To be in his presence was to receive in full the gift of an abundant and joyful spirit. He negotiated the byzantine intricacies of his adopted nation’s bureaucracy with tact and endless consideration for others. His skills were legendary; his presence was irrepressible. 

Jim Long takes his place among other missionary statesmen that have graced the cause of Christ throughout the years. May he rest in well deserved peace, and may his family and friends take comfort in the memories of the years that they have spent in the presence of a truly outstanding servant of Christ.

You made friends everywhere you went. Your laughter would fill up the room. I learned how to make pizza from you. I last saw you in 2018, and I wish I saw you again. Heaven is richer and we are bereaved. I'll miss you

Marilou, Megan and Melanie, It doesn't seem that long ago when I visited your lovely home in Bangladesh and enjoyed Marilou playing the piano and Jim's cooking!  I will never forget those times.  And I will never forget Jim. I have been blessed to know you all. I know Jim is enjoying things now that we can't even imagine.  But I know how deeply you will miss him. Praying for you all.
