Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Loyal Friend
Diane N. Nessel Davidson, 80 of Clearwater Florida said her last rosary and peacefully passed away in her sleep on May 14th, 2020 at the Oaks of Clearwater, Florida.
Diane was born in 1939 and raised in Hamtramck Michigan. She attended Cass Tech High School; Detroit’s leading college prep school, and played the flute in the marching band. She received a Bachelor of Science after attending Deaconess School of Nursing and Wayne State University. She was a Registered Nurse for several years before starting her family and volunteered as a nurse for a non-profit health clinic in Lansing, Michigan. Diane was an active member at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in East Lansing, Michigan in the 70’s and a charter member of St. Martha’s Catholic Parish in Okemos, Michigan in the 80’s. She enjoyed her time with her daughter’s Girl Scout group and working for many years at Jacobson's Department Store near Michigan State University. She was an accomplished seamstress and proud of the two wedding dresses she made for her daughters. In her retirement years, she was a Eucharistic Minister, Women’s Guild, and Altar Society member at St. Francis Catholic Church in Traverse City, Michigan. After settling in Clearwater, Florida to be closer to her parents and sister, she continued her kindness by taking communion to local hospitals as a member of the Light of Christ Catholic Church. She will be remembered as a devout Catholic who enjoyed serving the Lord and others by saying the rosary daily, and offering kind words to all who knew her. The family would like to thank the Oaks of Clearwater and all the staff, doctors and nurses that served and cared for Diane in her final years. She will be missed by many.
Diane was preceded in death by her mother Stella (Luszczki) Nessel and her father Victor Nessel. She is survived by her three children, Jane (Buckner) Davidson, Christopher Davidson and his wife Jill, Pamela Dueweke and her husband Patrick. Sister Victoria Nessel and husband Lonnie Harding. Grandchildren Victor Dueweke, Mary Dueweke, Mary Davidson Luna (Bryan Luna), Brandon Buckner, and Hannah Davidson.
A private ceremony with family and friends will be held at Mansion Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday, May 30 at 2:00 p.m. in Ellenton, Florida. Those wishing to do so may donate to the charity of their choice in honor of Diane.
