Angela F. Butera born April 25, 1920, in Cranston, Rhode Island, passed away at age 97 surrounded by family and friends at Hospice House. As matriarch of five generations, she is pre-deceased by seven siblings; her former husband, Frank V. Butera Sr.; Frank V. Jr., Donald V. and grandson, Frank V. III. Her surviving family includes: son, Robert Butera; former daughter-in-law Donna Lincks; grandson, Nick Butera; granddaughter, Toni Bush; great-grandsons, Michael Butera, Dustin Kershner, Tyler Kershner, Zach Bush; and great-great grandchildren, Connor, Jackson and Annabelle, all of Manatee county. Angela moved to Palmetto, Florida in 1947 with her family and lived in the house her husband built through 2015. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church which her family was instrumental in helping to build. She became a single mom in the 50's and went to work in the restaurant business, where she became known in the community by many through the years. Working at Mario's Italian Restaurant, Kissin Kuzins, and eventually Tin Pan Alley, as the cashier with the "beautiful white hair" for 15+ years. She was adored not only by her sons (and grandsons she raised) and all her sons' friends, but also by her coworkers, most of whom called her "mom". Known for her "open door policy" she always had "kids" around. Her gift was with young people. Her quick wit, listening ears, tight lips, and sage advice, made her a friend to many generations who still visited her into her 90's. She loved gardening and crocheting and played music by ear on the organ. Tough "as nails" she survived the great depression, being run over by a car at 16 and the great hurricane of '38, as well as, many difficult times including the death of two sons and a grandson. She loved flowers so send flowers...(to Groover Funeral Home or Banana Factory) or donate to Hospice House; 2504 34th Ave West, Bradenton. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 7th, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Groover Funeral Home located at 1400 36th Ave East in Ellenton, with a "Celebration of Life" to follow at The Banana Factory Bar and Restaurant located at 6916 14th Street West, Bradenton.
