Sandra Jeanne Ross, 64, of Ellensburg, passed away on July 20, 2012, at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on April 28, 1948, to Albert and Dolores Rogers. Later she was raised in the Kent area and attended school at Kent Meridian High School and Highline Community College.
On December 3, 1969, Sandy married Bob Ross in Kent, Washington. She worked for 25 years in the Lake Washington School District as a book keeper. She worked for Rose Hill Junior High School, Kamiakin Junior High School and Juanita High School.
Sandy and Bob were involved with the Seattle Thunderbirds Hockey Club for 25 plus years as a host family for players of the team. She was also active in Seattle area youth hockey programs as well as Kirkland American Baseball. Besides ice hockey, Sandy was a support member of the U-96 Unlimited Hydroplane Race Team. She enjoyed snow skiing, fishing and boating among other outdoor activities. Sandy also enjoyed literature, music and the arts. She was an animal advocate and lover. She had two horses and three dogs at the time of her passing.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Dolores Rogers and her brother, Allen Rogers.
Sandy is survived by her husband Bob Ross of Ellensburg; daughters Carly Ross of Ellensburg and Lori Channell (Craig) of Plymouth, MI; son, Joel Ross of Portland, Oregon; and two grandchildren, Kayla and Mellissa Channell.
A celebration of Sandy’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 11th, 2012, at Steward & Williams Tribute Center, 301 East 3rd Avenue, Ellensburg.
