Mary Emily Bruketta

Mary grew up in Seattle, Yakima and moved to Ellensburg in the late 30’s. She graduated from Ellensburg High School in 1940. After graduation, Mary completed Wilson’s Modern Business College in Seattle. Upon completion, she returned to Ellensburg to work for Robbin’s Scale Company, where she met her husband, John Bruketta. They married December 19, 1942. Together they raised six children. Shortly after John’s death, Mary moved to Vancouver, WA to be closer to family.

Mary loved gardening and being with her family. She will be remembered by family and friends for her hospitality, throwing together a wonderful meal in a moment’s notice. Her warm smile and friendliness to all was one of her strongest traits.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Howard Staup, husband, John G. Bruketta and son, John J. Bruketta. She is survived by her daughter Joanne Borden (Terry) of Olympia, WA, son Jim Bruketta of Ellensburg, son, Terry Bruketta, of Vancouver, and daughters, Marianne Anderson (Scott) and Carol Kidwell (Bill ), both from Vancouver, WA. Her grandchildren include Lucy Bruketta Starbuck, Sabrina Bruketta Spencer, Brandy Bruketta, Aaron Borden, Amy Borden Michael, Angela Borden Hayes, Sara Anderson Ellsworth, Elizabeth Anderson Masunaga, Jamie Bruketta, and Trina Bruketta Lepper. She was blessed with fourteen great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be offered 4PM-7PM on Friday, September 23, 2011 at Steward and Williams Tribute Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Ellensburg. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
