There were many individual obituaries offered at Kris Nielsen's Memorial service, deeply personal remembrances of how a man can touch and affect the lives of others. Hundreds of people attended the memorial event held in the huge riding arena at his beloved place of solace, the Unionville Ranch. As each speaker took the stage and presented their thoughts, an image of Kris Nielsen emerged as the facets of a diamond are revealed when held to the light.
It is impossible to cover all those thoughts. Many are encapsulated in the comments sections in this memorial page, but there is particular strength in the blessing that Jack Dignum offered to Kris as Kris teetered on the edge of death Here is that blessing:
— ☼ —
The focus of the blessing chant is to share one's own strength, courage, peace and belief with the one who is hurt. The blessing for each grace must be freely given. The stones store the blessing to be called upon when he who is hurt finds that his strength wavers, his courage fades, his peace is replaced by despair and his belief is shaken by the weakening on his strength, courage and peace. The offering is in 4 parts
"Spirit, take from me part of my strength and place it in Kris, he who is hurt."
"Spirit take from me part of my courage and place it in Kris He who is hurt."
"Spirit take from me part of my peace and place it in Kris, he who is hurt."
"Spirit I give all this freely to Kris, he who is hurt, that he may be strengthened, can renew his courage and find again his peace. All is freely given in the belief that his hurt can be defeated."
