John Michael Ames, born in Frankfurt, Germany, passed away on May 21, 2014, at the age of 63. After living in several locations in the world while his father was in the army, they moved to Tacoma, WA where he graduated from high school and college. While he started his career in the forestry industry, he drove truck for several years, and then returned to the US Forest Service where he retired in 2010. He was an avid reader, loved gardening and was a vintage car enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine, sons John Adam (Katrina) and David, grandson, Logan Erickson, and sister, Cathryn Binder. Per his request, there will be a private family service.
