Joanie Marie Hoctor

February 14, 1963 - September 16, 2013

Joanie Marie Hoctor, 50, went to be with Jesus on September 16, 2013, following a long bout with acute depression, panic and anxiety. She was a loving and much loved daughter. Joanie was born, raised and educated in Ellensburg, starting with grade school through a BA Degree from Central Washington University. Her degree was in physical education. She worked many jobs in Ellensburg. Some of those jobs included being a waitress at the Highway Grille, a checker at Happy's Market (Ellensburg), an assistant manager at Shari's in Wenatchee and a manager of Turtle Town Burgers in Easton. Joanie then went into law enforcement where she spent five years as a Corrections Officer at the Kittitas County Jail. This was followed by eighteen years at Thurston County Jail in the Olympia, Lacy area. Anyone who knew her loved her. She will be missed by all. Joanie is survived by her parents Shirlie and Rich Hoctor of Ellensburg, brothers; Rob (Paula) Hoctor, and Joe (Cindy Dillard) Hoctor, nephew Tyler Hoctor and her 18 year partner Kathy Kilstrom. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice . A time of visitation is scheduled from 4-6pm, Friday, Sept 20, 2013, at the Steward and Williams Tribute Center. Following the visitation will be a Rosary at 7pm, at St. Andrews Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for 11am, Saturday, September 21, at St. Andrews Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Steward and Williams Tribute Center.
