On Wednesday, July 14, 2010, Tilghman Arthur “Til” “Honeypop” Shamer, Sr. of Ellicott City, MD, formerly of Baltimore, MD. Beloved husband of Rita A. Shamer, Loving father of Tilghman A. Shamer, Jr. and his wife Randi, Jacquelyn M. Goldhammer and her husband Lee and David J. Shamer and his wife Michele. Brother of the late Louis D. Shamer, Grandfather of Jennifer, Joshua, Joel, Trey, Jeremy and the late Lisa. Great-Grandfather of Mikayla, Brydan, Annalyse, Tyler, Caitlyn and Alyssa. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc. (exit 6 off Rt. 100), 7250 Washington Boulevard, Elkridge, MD on Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM with prayers at 8:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, July 19, 2010 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Ellicott City, MD at 11:00 AM. Interment Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, Marriottsville, MD. After serving as a Seaman Apprentice in the United States Navy during 1946 to 1953 he entered the Baltimore City Fire Department where he proudly served from 1952 to 1977. Lieutenant Shamer retired after suffering a heart attack in the line of duty. He was a proud that his two sons chose to follow in his footsteps and joined the BCFD as well. "Til" was instrumental in writting curriculum for the Fire Technology Program at Catonsville Community College, he was among the first graduating class of that program.
