Our family is heartbroken to announce the death of Robert "Bobby" Eugene Merrill II. Robert Eugene Merrill II, age 32, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Jessup, Maryland on September 18th, 2024, at 12:30pm after a long fight with Glioblastoma (Brain Cancer). Born in Baltimore City, Maryland, on November 30th, 1991, he was the beloved son of Cindy Merrill and Robert Merrill.
He was known to his friends and loved ones as Bobby and “Rabbit.” Bobby was a very bright young man and his sarcastic humor was a source of laughter for both friends and family. He loved his friends and family.
Growing up, Bobby always enjoyed playing video games. As a child, he loved the Nintendo N64, PlayStation, and the GameCube. He especially enjoyed beating his sisters at games. He enjoyed playing computer games, especially League of Legends, with his friends and made friends around the world in doing so, and had fun watching tv and movies with his family.
In high school, Bobby was in the marching band where he met many of his friends and really found his passion for the alto-sax. His favorite subject in high school was band. He enjoyed his time playing tennis with his friends. Bobby loved playing chess, especially the times he spent teaching his niece, Kairi, how to play the game.
After high school, he went to college at Anne Arundel Community College and UMBC. He continued taking classes in the Air Force. He loved the Japanese culture and his time backpacking through Japan with Ed, and the many Otakons, Comic-Cons, and League of Legends Tournaments where he had the chance to meet in-person some of those he met through computer gaming.
He finally found his niche in life as a linguist in the Air Force. While pursuing the career he loved in Monterey, CA, he also enjoyed volunteering his time to the SPCA. He made many more friends during his time in the Air Force who he cherished and loved to talk about.
