Mary Ann was born in New York and started her career at the Atomic Energy Commission where she met her husband, David D. Lombardo. Mary Ann moved to Crofton, MD in 1977 where she and her husband raised their family. As a true New Yorker, Mary Ann had a larger than life personality and always maintained her distinctive New York accent. She was feisty and active in local community organizations such as the PTA and the Crofton Kiwanis Club. She was also the author of the column, “In and Around Town” in The Capital newspaper, and later enjoyed her career as a real estate agent in the Crofton and surrounding area.
Mary Ann was passionate about her family and loved being a grandmother to Katherine and Lauren. She shared her passion for the beach with them, as well as her love of animals. She loved getting involved in local politics and was a member of the League of Women Voters. She never missed watching Meet the Press with her husband on Sunday mornings. In her downtime, she could be found gardening, listening to the Beach Boys, camping or enjoying some time at the beach at her parents’ house in Long Island, NY, and later at local Maryland beaches.
