From your infectious laugh to your festive Hawaiian shirts to your fishing rods and all the memories of family, you are awesome. I am glad we were able to spend some time together at the hospital. Heaven and Earth and our family are all better because of you!!! I love you, cuz!!!

Dianne I am so very sorry for  Joes family and your loss of a wonderful generous man. Years ago when he was working at a hotel in  Baltimore , he text  me and asked if I was still collecting for the homeless because his hotel was getting rid of their comforters and buying new ones. So a friend and I went to pick them up, and we all stuffed as many as we could in her white  Highlander, it was at least 30 comforter's and 10 pillows. We crammed them in (comforters are not small) they filled up the SUV covering the windows . Joe text   me and said when we left the SUV looked like a giant marshmallow driving down the road . We took them right to the homeless living in the woods in Hav`re de Grace by the rail road tracks who because of their life style cant go into shelters(they never pee clean to be admitted ) Two days later we had a big snow storm and I had the government issue cell phone number of one of the woman and called to see how they made out , and she said they were so grateful for the comforters Joe`s hotel donated, every one had at lease two and they helped to kept them warm.  I just thought you would like to know how his generous act of kindness and thinking of others  helped a group of people stay warm .

Joe surf fishing in OBX September 2021. We only got about 3 hours on the beach all week due to high winds and rough surf from an approaching hurricane. Didn’t matter. We all had the best time and I will forever be grateful for the long talks I had with Joe where he shared so many memories of my parents when they were dating and first married. He loved my parents dearly and you could tell by how he spoke of them. 
I didn’t know our grandfather at all and have never really heard many stories about him. Joe recounted the sweetest memories of him and how much he meant to him. He told me how our grandfather would always take him fishing when they lived in Florida and I have no doubt that is where his fishing obsession started. It was so special to “meet” my grandfather for the first time through the memories of a child who adored him. 
Those stories Joe shared are far more special to me than he realized and I will cherish them, and Joe, forever.

We met “Baltimore & Maryland” in FL 10 years ago on our wedding.  About 75 Hoosiers headed down to the FL Atlantic coastline for one big beach party.  Joe was most definitely surf fishing.  We invited them to join in on the festivities & were so delighted they did.  We kept in touch & they even came back for our anniversary party trip!  I still have & frequently use the cutting board they gave us as a gift.  So glad our paths crossed with these 2 lovely humans.  😌

Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Montgomery Family. We will cherish the many good times we had with Joe; NASCAR, camping, cruises and many other get togethers. Joe was a good kind man who’s heart was bigger than most. He will be missed by many.
