Jimmers was a Lover of Life itself. I’m so honored to have called him a friend.  He loved you’ll very much and bragged on the girls at every chance he could find. Jim and I had many business trips that took us to places (just to name a few) like Colorado Springs where we visited Peak’s Pike and the Garden of Angels, we also ventured over to the Air Force Academy and had the pleasure of touring the Cathedral (a must see). We traveled to Oklahoma City many times where we visited the Oklahoma City Bombing Museum and eat at the Cattleman’s Restaurant (once voted the Best Steaks in America) where we were introduced to Lamb Fries or Mountain Oysters as they are called, we frequently made Happy Hour stops in water holes/Dives with dirt floors that served Rail Drinks in Mason Jars with bartenders well into their 80’s called Grandma and Mamma (LOL). We traveled to the Emerald Coast (Fort Walton Beach, Panama City and Destin, FL).  Macon  Georgia, Dallas and Fort Worth, Las Vegas where we gambled like Sailors and walked the Vegas Strip We had FUN outside of work as well taking trips out to the “Ocean” for a few days just “Bar Crawling” on the Boardwalk to places such as The Purple Moose, Bertha’s Mussels, Coins, Fenwick Inn , Bull On The Beach and let’s not forget Tommy’s Sub    We were actually together during 911 sitting barside at Mike’s Crabhouse as we watched both Towers fall we knew life for America would never be the same.  Jimmers slowed down a bit in his later years but we always managed to meet up here or there to talk about old times and have a few refreshments.  We would meet down in Lexington Park and Solomon’s Island when he worked as an Election Board Official.  And we always seem to find time to catch an Orioles Ballgame each Season (talking about a great time).  I can still hear him say “Don’t be show’n off now, Jonesy…” That something my wife would tell me every time Jim and I got together.  What a Great Friend.  We will miss him so...

Jimmy was a great cousin, always generous with his time,  memories and conversation. He always made you feel like you were special. The time I would spend down his house with Linda and his family talking about  the Orioles, Ravens, and everything else under the Sun will be cherished.   Jim you will be truly missed by everyone.

Uncle Jim was one of the most generous and lovable people I've ever known.  He had a way of acceptance, ease, and welcoming that drew people in and those that knew him, knew he always had an open door and an open seat at his table. Whenever I sit down to a Sunday ham dinner, I always think of him. His ability to see the humor in life could brighten any mood and I can think of countless times when his comments would have everyone rolling in laughter. Some of my fondest memories of him were when we were kids down at the ocean, all packed into a tiny condo with no AC,  'The Sweat Box' as he deemed it. Another show of his humor and ability to see the joy in life's imperfect moments. 
I think of our rebellious teenage and college years... when he would always have a watchful eye but gave us the freedom to experience our youth. You never felt judged but were always safe. Whenever I would come for a visit he would put some cash in my hand before I left. Something he continued to do long after I was out of school and too old for such things but he never took no for an answer. I also never knew another parent whose kid's friends loved them as much as Kim and Chrissy's friends loved Uncle Jim. I would see them talking and laughing and you could always tell that there was true admiration there. I think it's probably because when you have a heart as big as his was, age is not a factor.
One last thing that meant so much to me... the way he opened his home to our Grandma Sally in her later years when her health declined and she couldn’t live alone anymore. We all knew she could sometimes be a bit of a pistol but he had a way of breaking the tension with his humor and seeing the bright side of life. They had a special relationship that put her at ease and she trusted him. Once again, he kept her safe and kept us all laughing. 
We love you Uncle Jim and will carry your spirit in our hearts. I hope I always have as many people who love me around my table as you had around yours. 

Jimmy was such a thoughtful, caring, and sweet person who will be missed by so many who loved him.  His strong sense of family was evident to all.   I will always remember him with a smile on his face and his laugh when he would tell a story.  Jimmy also made the best shrimp salad and whenever I order shrimp salad, I  think of him.  We had some fun times: Ft. McHenry and then afterwards,  we had to find some steamed crabs, which we finally did (that Kohlhepp determination); Mt. Vernon,  Ocean City, and the infamous Cambridge Diner to name a few.  Hoping the Ravens win the Super Bowl in your honor Jimmy!

Linda and family, you will be in our prayers during the days to come and remember that Jimmy will always be smiling down on you from heaven.

James will be missed by all because everyone loved him.  I can't say that about everyone.  The first time I really talked to him was the morning after Adi's christening when he rescued me from the rain I was putting up with while smoking an early morning cigarette behind Josh and Chrissie's house.  He invited me to join him on his back porch and offered me coffee.  We talked for about a half hour without even one awkward moment.  He was a kind generous soul who immediately put everyone at ease.  Josh once told me that while he and Chrissie were living with her parents that there was no tension what so ever between him and her parents.  I had my doubts about this until that morning.

Jim and I worked together at Arrow Electronics.  He was a great co worker and wonderful man.  I considered Jim a friend.
He will be missed by so many people.  I feel privileged to have known him.

My deepest sympathy to the entire Kohlhepp family.  Jim worked for me at Anthem Electronics.  He was a wonderful , hard working, ethical person who I greatly respected.  He was well liked by everyone he met -  with a smile on his face and was always ready to pitch in to help anyone in our organization.  My life was better for having the privilege of having him on my team.  I am very sorry for your loss.  

It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to our wonderful nephew, Jimmy.  The world has lost an amazing person who has showed us compassion, love and the joy of life.  Jimmy was the rock that connected his extended family and set the example for us to continue.
His sense of humor and story telling is a trait that he shared with his Uncle Tom.  I remember Jimmy's frequent visits to our home on Montrose Ave. and sitting with Jimmy and Tom on the porch listening to their story telling about family events.  It was a true competition.
Jimmy's compassion and love was evident when he drove to Easton, MD to visit his Uncle Tom whenever Tom was in a rehab facility.  Of course, he always arrived with a couple of crab cakes for Tom's lunch and a wisecrack or two.
Although I will dearly miss Jimmy's big smile, big hug and big heart, I am so very grateful to have spent some fun time with him during this past year.  Jimmy is gone but the memories are many. Rest well, Jimmy, and share some new stories with Uncle Tom.

I met Jim after I was laid-off from Westinghouse in 1991.  A group of us would drown our sorrows of being laid-off at Cheers.  It did not take long  before our tears were those of laughter and fond memories as the years went by of comical events with family and friends.  Jim and Linda always made you feel welcomed at their home . . . . . .God knows I spent many a night sleeping on their living room sofa.  It gave me the opportunity to meet the whole family and what a wonderful family it has been my privilege to know.  However, nobody could tell a story quite like Jim or as Chrissy would say "Jimmers".   He had such a way with words and a great sense of humor.  I will never forget the time a group of us were in a restaurant and Jim was doing his usual story telling that had me in stitches with laughter.  We were leaving the restaurant when a couple motioned for us to come to their table.  The woman said " I do not know what you were laughing about but my husband and I were laughing with you."   I pointed to Jim and said "He was to blame."    Jim was a joy to know and a true friend who will be sorely missed.   Linda, Kim and Chrissy my heart breaks for you as well as the extended family.  I will keep you in my prayers.   GOD BLESS YOU JIM,  I know you will be looking out for your family from heaven.

 Praying that the comfort and prayers you all receive from your family and friends will sustain you during this very sad time. I feel very honored to have met Mr. Jim...he was  such an easy going, happy, smiley man who was  a pleasure to be in the presence of. May you find rest and peace, Mr. Jim, and watch over your girls❤️Miss Linda, Kim And Chrissy, my heart breaks for you but I am praying that each day, you will feel your husband and dads presence ...he will always be with you....May God bless you all in the days, weeks and months ahead🙏

Instead of starting off by saying how sorry I am to hear of Jimmy's passing, and or course I am, I'd like to say how happy I was that we got to spend so much time with all of you this year. Though God may have slowed Jim's mobility down a bit, there was nothing slow about his wit and charm. From his big smile when he saw you, until the warm hug he gave when saying goodbye, Jimmy was truly one of a kind. Though the Kohlhepp family has had it's share of sorrow and loss this year, the one common thread that runs through our fabric is that we are a VERY strong family. We are a family of survivors. Take time for yourself when you need to, lean on others when necessary, but always remember that the entire family walks beside you. 

Jim, I will drink a Rum & Coke in your honor. Great to have known you and you will be missed. Glad we got to talk Christmas Eve. It was great seeing you so happy with the family.  You have left us with great fun memories and we will be talking about them and smiling and laughing.


When I think of Jimmy, smiles, laughs and love are what comes to the top of my memories.
He made everyone feel comfortable and welcomed. 
Family was #1 on his list and I cherish the times in the past 2 years when we spent time together enjoying his kids snd grandkids.
Jimmy was a kind of person like you don't see much anymore. He will be missed, but remembered by me as well as so many others.
May you find calm seas and plenty of fish to catch in heaven Jimmy. 


This man will definitely be missed we go way back . We met at Cheers and became friends and remained friends  I would call him on our Birthdays we share the same birthday and I would always say but your 20 years older then me he just laughed. Jimmy's caring, kind and sensitive qualities were ever present. When I was 6 years old I was squashed among 6 boys;  four Kohlhepp bothers and my two brothers, all older than I. They all scared me with their teasing and horse play but Jimmy was my protector. As long as he was in the over crowded car, I felt safe. And he had a great smile.
