Grace Marion Rice

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Grace Marion Rice, 94, of Charleston, SC, on February 28, 2023. Gracie was born in New York City on July 2, 1928. She is survived and will be cherished and missed by her children Ronald Rice of Charleston, SC, Douglas Rice of Mardela Springs, MD, and Kathleen Travers (Timothy) of Johns Island, SC. She is predeceased by her husband James S. Rice and son Kenneth Rice.

Gracie was blessed with eight grandchildren. Lisa Ordakowski (Roddy), Ronnie Rice (Angel), Michael Rice (Jen), Michele Berg (Chip), Melissa Horton (Aaron), Stephanie, Andrew, and Alex. In addition, she had eight great grandchildren, Gretchyn, Conrad, Eben, Brandon, Jesse, Nicole, Autumn and Landon, as well as a great-great granddaughter, Aurora.

In addition to being a warm and loving mother, Gracie was a social butterfly and made many valued long lasting friendships wherever she lived. Over her lifetime, she made her way living along the east coast from New York to Maryland and finally spent her golden years in South Carolina.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc. 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, Maryland 21075 (Exit 6 South off Route 100) on Sunday, March 26, 2023 from 2:00 to 6:00pm where a Private Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 27, 2023.
