Today would have been your 41st Wedding Anniversary with your lovely Rosie.  I know that day you both said, "Til death do us part...", but that's only partially true.  Rosie is every bit as committed to you now as she was that day.  What a beautiful love story you two share.

She and your boys would have made you proud with their crab haul...two bushels...could have been three, but they are responsible crabbers and left the ladies behind.  :)

Today is a bittersweet day....

This is the anniversary of the day you gave me my sweet sister, Rosie.  It's sad because I know her heart is aching for you.  You were the most wonderful husband to your bride and this made you a father to two equally wonderful men.

Your oldest is 37 today.  He is such a fine man.  You would be so proud of him.

We are so blessed to have him. thanks to the love you and Rosie shared.

The day you left us, Jeremy said he would take care of our yard for you.  He and Joey have done such a beautiful job.  Jeremy likes being Mom's adopted son.  That doesn't mean we don't miss you and talk about you all the time.  It's just wonderful how God comes to our rescue with special people.

Rosie's been working so hard, we don't get to see her as often as we like, but when we do, it's always a joy.

We miss you, but we know we will see you again.  Until then....

It's almost Christmas Day.  I can't even imagine what it must be like for you.  

Here, I decorated my tree with the snowflakes you gave me.  It's so pretty.  I'm glad I did, because it's the only snow I'm getting.  Gifts are wrapped, the food is ready to be cooked and the house is almost ready.

We'll start the day out with your beautiful Rosie cooking shrimp like you used to.   We'll open gifts, have a delicious (I hope) dinner and enjoy being together...all the while missing you.

Merry Christmas Brother.  We love you!

Some day we'll celebrate Jesus birthday together again.

Well George...your baby is 25 today! I know you're proud of the man he's become. With the help of God, you and Rosie made some fine men.  Thanks for sharing them with us.

Hi Bro,

Well, it's been 3 years since you went home.  It's only fitting that our crepe myrtle is blooming in memory.  I'm remembering the pictures I took of you,  Rosie and Mom standing under it.

Rosie cooked us a delicious crab cake dinner last night to remember you.  We sat outside by the pool you were so proud of.  It was a gorgeous night.  I stood in the kitchen looking at the pictures of you that Rosie has around.  I wanted to believe you were there with us. 

Today Mom, Rosie and your Father-in-law spent the afternoon together.  It was sweet that the three who are hurting this week(in different ways) should support each other.  They are quite a trio.

Today, I choose to remember you the way you left the hospital, preparing for your trip home.  You were sitting up on the stretcher, with your hands behind you head and a big smile. You announced to whoever was listening that you were going outside!  Little did we know you would be leaving us so soon.  But, it was such a happy memory for me.  That mental picture is what I will hold in my heart until I see you again.

You are still missed and loved every day.

Hi Brother,

Lately, every time I try to send you a message, something goes wrong.  Thankfully, I know I don't need the media to let you know I'm thinking of you.

 I'm thinking of you today, not because your birthday would have been tomorrow, but because I realized something the other day.  You may remember that I had a close friend named Buddy, a drummer in one to he bands I followed.  He had 2  kids, a boy and a girl that I took care of along with Robert and Dwight.  Robert and Stacey were the same age and Dwight and JJ were the same age.  Anyway, Buddy and I were extremely close for a very long time.  Until the Lord changed my life.  Buddy's birthday is today.

Fast forward many years and I have another special friend, Matt.  As you probably remember, we also are very close.  In fact, he and Michele are like family.  His birthday is the 23rd.

Both Buddy and Matt are into cars boats, crabbing, fishing and water sports.  Much like someone else I know and love.

It would seem that some of the most important men in my life  were born, July 21, 22 and 23rd.  

I don't see Buddy anymore, hopefully I will see him again, Matt is still here and will be for eternity and you. I know I will see again.

Until then, I wanted you to know how special you still are to me.

    I've been reading the entries in your book, it's been a while since I jotted anything down. Miss you so much that it hurts, people say that the pain goes away, "WRONG", Oh so wrong.
    I'm just having one of those days, remembering all the things we did together and knowing that all I can do now is "Remember" and realize that I have to do those things on my own. It's the simple things that get to me, 
every time I go to Walmart, something that we always did together, or going to the grocery store, getting gas in the car, just driving to and from places not having you physically next to me. 
  I miss your smile, the touch of your hand holding mine, I even miss your phone calls you made every day on your 
way home from work as you complained about the traffic from DC to our home, and oh so much more. 
 I love you Babe, we will meet again, this I am sure of.

It's December 5 and our 'real' tree is being delivered today.  I am so excited! 

Last year, we had an old fashioned tree, complete with paper chains and popcorn and cranberry garland (all made by Mom and I).  We even had old fashioned icicles and real socks on the mantle.

But, this year, I want to go back to our snow tree so I can use the snowflakes you gave me.  Knowing how much you loved snow, I may as well tell you I plan to run my snow flag up the flagpole and put 'Let It Snow!' in the front window.  (I know I'll hear you telling me, "Take that flag down and get that off the front window before someone shoots the window out", but I'm going to do it anyway.  :)

Christmas hasn't been the same without you.  I'm just going to think about how wonderful it must be for you to be with Jesus on His birthday.  Someday, we'll be there with you.

It's September 3, 2013 and 36 years ago you married your lovely bride.  You were so happy.

Here's some things I remember about that day...

It was HOT!!!!

I remember how you looked in your tux.  Some said you looked like Mr. Clean, but no, it was Willy Wonka.

I remember Sandy's shoes, or lack of them.

And let's not forget your orange and green striped sport socks.

I remember how beautiful Rosie looked in her gown with her long hair.  (You were right, she looks great with short hair.)

It was HOT!!!!

I remember Gail pointing out to me how your legs were shaking.

I remember how nice the church was.  Not stiff like some Catholic churches.  I still like that church.

Mostly I remember your face when you looked at Rosie.  You were so in love.

Did I mention it was HOT.  Probably due to the warmth of your love for each other.

Anyway, I remember it being one of the happiest days of your life...except when you got that bike in Texas.  I remember you yelled Zow Whee when you saw it.  No, this was better.  Your heart was saying Zow Whee when you saw Rosie.  (Thanks for not yelling it out in church.)  :)

It was a beautiful start to your love story.

Tonight, Rosie, Mom and I will have dinner together and remember.

Oh My Darlin', Two years ago you left on an Amazing Adventure, one you were ready for, but we were not. We knew you were going to go, but didn't think it would be so soon. I think we're doing okay, at times anyway. One day I'll be going on the same Amazing Adventure and we will be reunited, what a great celebration that will be.

Hi Bro,

It's 12:30A. It's been 2 years since you traveled home...and yet it feels like yesterday.

I was sitting on the patio today, looking at the crepe myrtle.  Right before you left, Mom had someone 'trim' it and they hacked it to up.  I was so upset, afraid you might see it and at the same time thinking you probably wouldn't, at least, not in this life.

When I looked at it toady, for the first time, I noticed there was a lot of new growth, especially at the top. It looks a little odd, like it doesn't belong to the rest of the bush.  The new growth is reaching straight up while the rest reaches out.  It's as if God willed it to grow and fill the gap between you and us.

While nothing will ever fill the gap you left, it was sweet to think that God understands our emptiness. The new growth should be blooming soon.  I can't wait to show it to Rosie.  I know she'll understand how I feel.

We miss you so much, but we know that it's only temporary.

Two years ago today, you were packing to take your lovely bride on a very special vacation trip.

I'll never forget your face behind the steering wheel of the car as you drove away.  Nor will I forget the look on your face standing in the surf in Ocracoke.  You were positively beaming.

Even though the trip had to be cut short, Mom and I were glad we got to spend some of your birthday with you.

We had no idea you would be leaving so soon on another trip, to an even better place.

Tomorrow night, Gail will be announcing her run for Maryland Senate.  Knowing how proud you were of her, I know you'll be there with us to cheer her on.

I know that you would be very proud of your sons today. I know that they learned so much from you and today they showed off some of their skills that you taught them. They built a Boardwalk from the Patio to the Pool today, and I know that they were thinking of you the whole time and wishing that you were here to help. You did Good, their workmanship is great, I love you  and miss you so much. Happy Father's Day Babe.

Well Bro, we celebrated another Father's Day without you and Dad.  Robert helped me cook a dinner for David.  Dwight called to wish his Dad Happy Father's Day and we wished him one in return. It was very nice, but we missed you and remembered you and Dad and what wonderful father's you were.

Pat and Travis did you proud by spending the day building a boardwalk to the pool for Rosie. You would have loved it.  What a wonderful job you did with these men.  Looking at the pictures of them building it, I could see shades of you.  So, even though you aren't here physically, you were there in your sons.

Someday we'll all celebrate Father's Day together again around the throne of God...our Father who art in heaven.

35 years ago today, by God's design, you and Rosie gave us Jerimiah Patrick Hipple.  He was the cutest little 'red-headed' baby.  I thought you would burst with pride showing him off.  And now, he's grown into a ruggedly handsome, talented, fine man.  We couldn't be any prouder of him.  You always were!  Miss you today as always.

35 years ago today, you were joined in marriage with Rosie.  You were a fine example of a loving, faithful husband and father.

Knowing you would have wanted to do it yourself, I gave Rosie some Roses to remember this special day.  They are really pretty, just like your Rosie.

Your wonderful marriage lives on in our hearts and minds, just as it does in Rosie's heart.   

We miss you and think about you all the time....but especially today.

True love never really dies.

I can't believe tomorrow will be 1 year since you left this home and went to your forever home.  Your leaving left a big hole in our hearts that is hard to fill.

Your sons have been incredible, loving and caring for their mother. What fine men they are!  Mom and I enjoyed going to church with them on your birthday.

And Rosie....well, let's just say she is amazing. You would be so proud of her.  She misses you so much it's hard for her to breathe sometimes, but somehow she does.  People say it gets easier, but I'm sure Rosie would disagree.  She, Mom and I all feel like you are going to walk in the room at any moment. Then, when you don't, we feel the hole all over again.

The brightside is (and there is one), we feel you so close, because we are in heaven with you, just a different location. ...hmm, heaven south.  :) Someday, we'll all be together.

Our crepe myrtle in the backyard is starting to bloom. Mom and I talk about how much you would love seeing it.  I sit here now with tears remembering how much you loved that tree.  I'm looking at the pictures we took of you, Rosie and Mom standing under it.  (Whoops, there's that hole again)

Today they will close this remembrance page, but that's just a book. They can't close our hearts. They will always remember.....Tomorrow, Mom, Rosie and I are going to go somewhere together to reminisce. 

Well, George, as fast as this year went by, it won't be long, we'll be seeing you.

I was 6 1/2 when George was born, gave him chicken pox because I loved holding him.  As he grew, we developed a special bond, usually with me as teacher.  There are so many sweet childhood memories and stories, fishing with Dad, George fearless on water skis, learining to swim so he could gooff diving boards, etc.  Treasured are the conversations we had on faith and politics.  As George dealt with his cancer, he switched from student to teacher, teaching all of us the meaning of love and faith.  He shared with me the book - Heaven is For Real - which gave him both comfort and confidence in our Lord as he faced his mortality.  George is gone from out sight, but I know we will see him again.  He lives on in his wonderful sons who seem more like him each day and in the heart of his dear wife and our sister by marriage Rosie.  We all mourn his loss, but in daily remembrances, celebrate his life as a precious gift to all of us.

Every time I go past the hydrangea bush you gave me I think of you.  I have been blessed to have known you.

This time last year you were excitedly leaving for your favorite place on earth.  You and Rosie got to spend an all expense paid week in Ocracoke. 

We were saddened you had to return early, but glad we got to spend some of your birthday with you.

We had no way of knowing then you would be leaving us so soon for an even more spectacular destination.  

So, we'll just remember you and Ocracoke this week as we anticipate your birthday.

Georgie, I can't ever remember you not smiling. I don't imagine it's any different in heaven.

Tomorrow will be our first Father's Day without you.  I know Rosie, Pat and Travis miss you terribly, as do Mom, Gail and David, their family and I.

We'll stop by to remember you and Dad knowing you are at home with our heavenly Father waiting for us to join with you around the throne.   Until then....we love and miss you.

It's hard to believe you have been gone 6 months.  I still expect you to walk in the door at any time.  I think that's the beauty of being children of God.  Our eternity started on earth and continues in heaven.  So, even though you are gone from our sight, you still feel very close.  We're all kingdom living, here and there. I will always remember growing up together and how our families shared so much time together on the water. It was always a lot of fun back then. I still laugh when thinking about how you would rev the boat up fast and pull me across the water... usually I quickly slipped a  ski off my foot and fell down fast. You always got a kick at how bad I was at it.
