George Donald Glover 90 of Glen Burnie, MD passed into eternal life on October 23, 2022. The son of George Allen Glover and Catherine Adele Royer (nee LaMar) was born and raised in Baltimore. He attended Baltimore City public school including graduating from the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. Don, served in the U.S. Army (1st Armored Division) during the Korean conflict and obtained the rank of Sergeant. While home on leave, he met his wife of 65 years, Virginia K. Glover (nee Kraft) at the 5 Oaks Swim Club in Catonsville. Together, they would settle in northern Anne Arundel County and raise two boys. Don worked as a surveyor and highway engineer for the Maryland State Highway Administration for 35 years and Anne Arundel County Public Works for 12 years retiring as a District Superintendent. He was a member of the County Engineers Association of Maryland.
Don and Ginnie were one of the original families of St. Philip Neri Parish & School (Linthicum). Even prior to his conversion to the Catholic faith, he was actively involved in the parish and school as a member of the Men’s Club, an Offertory Counter, Sarah’s House volunteer, Ticket Chairperson for countless socials and a Field Day Hot Dog Cooker. He was active in the community coaching his sons and other youth in baseball and basketball (LFYAA and CYO) and served as a Committee member (Treasurer) for the Boy Scouts of America Troop 822. Don was also a member of the American Legion (Dewey Lowman Post 109).
An avid Baltimore sports fan, Don was an original season ticket holder when the Colts moved to Baltimore as well as the Stars (USFL) and Stallions (CFL). He loved to watch all sports, especially the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles.
Don was a quiet, unassuming and selfless gentleman who had a deep love for his family, friends and community. He is survived by children Jeff and wife Stephanie, Bill and wife Cathy, Sisters Sue Munck and Judi Pfeiffer, Grandchildren: Amanda, Laurel, Samantha and James, Great Grandchildren: Cadence and Kinsley as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park (Elkridge) on Thursday, October 27 from 3-5 & 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Philip Neri Church, Linthicum on Friday, October 28 at 9 am.
