David was born to Myron and Katherine (Kay) Freeman on May 28, 1964, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After several moves, the family settled down in Arnold, Maryland. While attending Severna Park High School, David discovered two heartfelt passions: music (specifically the guitar) and the gospel. David joined a band, “Pegasus” (later “Tilt”) with some friends who would turn out to be lifelong. After graduating in 1982, David studied Computer Science at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) where he later became employed as a computer specialist.
As a young man, David found a second home in Severna Park Evangelical Presbyterian Church (SPEP), where he worshipped and ministered through mission work, youth ministries, and song. David's passion for music took to new heights when he joined SPEP's worship band where his musical pursuits finally found their highest purpose in praise of Jesus Christ.
David enjoyed visiting other churches and drew inspiration from talking to other believers. In 1994 while visiting Chapelgate Presbyterian Church in Marriottsville, MD, David met his wife, and love of his life, Erin. They married in August of 1996 and went on to have five children, Garrett, Nathanael, Holly, Daniel, and Megan.
In addition to being a fiercely dedicated Christian, husband, and father; David was a lover of life, nature, and the outdoors. Over the years he took great joy in kayaking, skiing, hiking, mountain biking, swimming, triathlons, adventure races, gardening, and caving – adventures on which he would often bring his family. David held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with his family, his friends, and his church.
David is survived by his wife, Erin, his mother, Kay; his brothers Steven and Marc; his children, Garrett, Nathanael, Holly, Megan; and an abundance of friends and fellow believers.
David is preceded in death by his son, Daniel; his father, Myron; and his niece, Lauren.
