Charles is survived by his loving wife Charlotte, children Charles, Craig and Cheryl, as well as six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in south Baltimore, he graduated from with a degree in political science from Western Maryland College, then continued his education at Drew University and finally earning his J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1959. He was commissioned as a radar officer in the U.S. Army and the Maryland National Guard then became a military attorney for the Army J.A.G Corp. from 1957 to 1962.
In addition to his legal work, he was elected to numerous offices including the Maryland House of Delegates, the Baltimore City Council, a delegate to the Maryland Constitutional Convention, and a delegate to a national presidential nominating convention. He was also the Corporate Executive Secretary and Chief of Staff for the Maryland State Teachers Association.
Over his lifetime, he never stopped learning and achieving, evident from his broad record in a incredible variety of fields including secondary and college education, real estate, insurance, government, technology development and transfer, software development, automation and robotics, space, biotechnology, and medical and scientific organizations. He was also appointed to a wide variety of local, legislative, and gubernatorial boards and commissions.
Charles was an avid traveler, taking his wife and family around the U.S., then moving on to Europe, and culminating with an around the world trip with Charlotte when they were in their sixties!
He loved keeping up with the latest technology and trends, and was still surfing the net at 91.
Charles touched many lives and will be remembered for a long time.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Charles' memory may be made to either the Methodist Church or to a veterans organization of your choosing.
A visitation for Charles will be held Monday, December 11, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, MD 21075. A funeral service will occur Monday, December 11, 2023 at 12:30 PM. Interment will follow.
