Bill Carr, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, at the age of 76. Bill was born on January 13, 1948, to Bill and Dorothy Carr in Ottumwa, Iowa. Bill graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1966 with honors and went on to attend Iowa State University. At ISU, he played football for two years before dedicating himself fully to his engineering studies. His career in engineering was filled with exciting opportunities at various corporations. Bill's life was characterized by passion, dedication, and a strong drive to excel, but his greatest joy was his family.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Cynthia "Cindy" Carr (Wells) of Woodstock, MD; his children, Jeff W. Carr, Woodstock, MD, Josh D. Carr and his wife Shuang of Fredericksburg, VA, Jill Carr Dudley and her husband Bert of Eldersburg, MD; and his grandchildren, Alex and Austin Carr, Blake, Chase, Luke, and Paige Dudley, they were the light of his life.
He is also survived by his sister, Teri L. Carr, Ottumwa, IA; brother-in-law, Ron Wells (Ann) of Wichita, KS; sisters-in-law, Marcia Wells, Sigourney, IA Dominga Wells, Baldwin, CA and Phyllis Wolf (Jim) Bozeman, MT; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Cecil & Juanita Wells, his sister, Vickie S. Carr Northup, and his brother-in-law, Jerry L. Wells.
Bill's family was his greatest joy, and he dedicated countless hours to shaping and nurturing their lives, especially through their shared love of sports. He mentored his children, helping them excel in their chosen athletic pursuits while imparting lessons on hard work, passion, and perseverance—values that will influence his children and grandchildren for generations to come.
Bill had a kind heart and a clever wit that endeared him to all that he spent time with. A Celebration of Life for Bill with a luncheon following will be held at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc., date to be announced.
