Avie Marie Kelly, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on February 1, 1951, in Rogersville, Tennessee, she was the cherished daughter of John Thomas Mauk and Georgia Marie Vaughn.
Avie was preceded in death by her sister, Hope Clarke, and her brother, James "Buck" Thomas Mauk. She attended Howard High School in Howard County, Maryland, where she built lifelong friendships and developed a love for creativity and family traditions.
A woman of many talents, Avie was an avid crafter, baker, and skilled cake decorator. She found joy in the warmth of her kitchen, creating sweet memories through her delicious treats. Her love for bingo, especially day-long bingo outings with her family, brought her happiness and laughter. She also had a passion for crocheting and was always working on a special blanket for her daughters or grandchildren, ensuring each stitch carried a piece of her love and care.
Avie is survived by her two loving daughters, Ayla Robinson and Kim Lape. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Lindzey Gust, Lacie Gilberto, Lando Banks, Kayla Banks, Madison Lape, Bethany Lape, and Samuel Lape, and a cherished great-grandmother to Antonio Banks, Autumn Gust, Aiden Banks, Nicholas Gilberto, Carter Gilberto, and Jackson Gilberto. Her family was her greatest joy, and her legacy of love and kindness will live on through them.
In honor of Avie's wishes, her family will hold a private service in remembrance of her legacy in April. Her warmth, creativity, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
