Austin Harvey Lowe, Jr.

Austin Harvey Lowe, Jr., age 91, of Laurel, Maryland passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022. Austin was born in Havre de Grace, Maryland on October 25, 1930. He spent most of his career serving in the United States Army where he met the love of his life, the late Maria B. Lowe (nee Ascherl); while serving in Germany. He was a proud Ranger in the Special Forces and a highly decorated Master Marksman while serving during the Vietnam War and loved to share colorful stories of his experiences while serving in Germany, Hawaii, and Vietnam. He retired as a First Sergeant in 1978 from Ft. Meade, Maryland, and began a successful second career by opening Laurel Health Foods along with his wife Maria in 1971, one of the first health food stores in the Maryland, DC, and the Virginia area.

He was a devoted father of Monika M. Price; father-in-law of Charles R. Price; loving grandfather of Curtis H. Price and Philip N. Price; great grandfather of Isiah, Laila, Jazmine, and Aaron Price; and dear brother of the late Jean Angelucci (nee Lowe). Austin is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and beloved friends. He was an adventurer and loved to live life to the fullest. He made friends everywhere he went and always helped those in need.

A receiving of friends for Austin will be held at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, MD 21075, on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 from 12 -1pm, at which time a Memorial Service will begin at 1pm and inurnment at the adjoining cemetery at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
