Armando Alvario Zapanta, age 83, of Arbutus, Maryland passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023. Armando was born July 2, 1939 in Ternate, Philippines to parents Demetrio N. Zapanta (Father) and Paula E. Alvario (Mother). Armando was one of their nine children. Armando graduated from Feati University in Manila, Philippines and started working as a Master Electrician. Armando married the love of his life, Luisa Pelina, in 1965. After moving to the U.S. the two were blessed with two sons, Armando “Jay” Zapanta Jr. and Demetrio “Larry” Zapanta. On June 12, 2022 they celebrated 57 years of marriage together.
Armando was a hard worker. He was employed with Spring Grove Medical Center, as the Maintenance Chief and also worked for the State of Maryland until he retired in 2010. He enjoyed working with his hands. He was a master craftsman building structures, home improvements, and more. He enjoyed helping friends and often worked to help them with their electrical needs for free. He loved cooking Filipino dishes for his grandchildren and spending time with family and friends.
Armando was proceeded in death by his wife Luisa Zapanta. He is survived by his sons, Jay (and Joy daughter-in-law) Zapanta, Larry (and Jeterra daughter-in-law) Zapanta; dear siblings Corazon Lindo, Leticia Catalasan, Robin Zapanta and Yolanda Novero; grandchildren Tasayeh Nickens, Demetrio “Meechie” Zapanta Jr., Aiden Zapanta, and Addison Zapanta and a number of nieces and nephews.
