We have known Betty for many years and have had many enjoyable times with her and alot of laughs.  We will miss her laughter and zany character.  Look out for where ever she gets to in her next life.

Because Betty lived nearby she would often beep her horn and wave "hello" as she drove off to Baraga to buy gas.  (A Baraga station sells gas for less that any in Ontonagon.)  It was our pleasure to see Betty sitting next to her beautiful flower beds reading a book on a sunny summer afternoon.  She was a good neighbor...checking in on a neighbor everyday, helping friends with their garage sales, and being involved in ways that help to make Ontonagon an ever better community.  She is missed by many.

I am truly saddened by the loss of such a good friend.Betty was the kindest,most caring involved person I've ever known.Nothing was ever too much for her to undertake.Her generous nature was endless.You knew you could always count on her to be there for you.She always had a smile on her sweet face and a possitive attitude even when she was dealing with her own adversities.She was more like a Mother to me than a friend and I will miss her very much.The one consolation is that she is now with her beloved Daughter.I'm happy that she was able to say goodbye to her family,whom she spoke of so highly.I feel like I know them myself.I would like to express my sincere sympathy to Bettys loved ones.She thought the world of you.God Bless you and yours during this difficult time.Our prayers are with you. I will always be indebted to Betty for the love and care she provided for my grandmother, Eva Kernan, who was her neighbor and friend for many years.  She always had a smile for me as well, considering me a friend too.  She was a multigenerational woman.  Whenever I think of Ontonagon, Betty's face will be there.  When I visit Ontonagon, there now will be an empty spot.  I'll walk the shores of the Big Lake for her.    Linda DeMill

It was a joy and an honor to spend time with Betty at her cozy apt. in Ontonagon. She was very fiesty as Chynoweth women often are. Mom and I will always remember the Labor Day parades that we enjoyed together.

I will miss Betty's company at the dinners Lynn and I enjoyed with her. The Mother's Day table sitting at the Fisherman on Lake Gogebic was memorable. Betty cared about and went to bat for those in need. Betty was interested and involved in the affairs of the Village of Ontonagon. Bettry put the interests and welfare of thers ahead of her own difficulities. Unfortunately, Betty was very under appreciated. I know she is at peace with her daughter.
