Norma Jean Jarboe Davis

Norma was born May 30, 1940.

She is survived by 4 Children; Betty Pague (Jeff), Steve Davis (Tammy), Patricia Manry (Mason), and Phyllis Starr (Ralph); 5 grandchildren; Melissa Manry, Josh Manry, Laura Davis, Stephen Pague, and Jennifer Pague; 7 great grandchildren; Joseph, Mina, Charlotte, Gabe, Ava, Emma, and Laikyn Rae; 2 sisters; Arlene Hampton and Debbie Boles; 2 brothers, Bill and Mike Lee Jarboe.

She is predeceased by her husband, David Davis; her parents, Richard Owen and Lula Mae Jarboe; her sister, Shirley Staples and a brother, Michael Owen Jarboe.

At the young age of 17, Norma married the love of her life, David Davis, in June of 1957. In the next 6 years, they had 4 amazing children, Betty, Steve, Patricia, and Phyllis. They became the center of her life. As a stay at home mom and homemaker, her goal in life was making sure that her children were well taken care of, well educated, and safe. She took great pride in making sure that, despite the financial difficulties of a young family, her children went to school clean and neatly dressed. Norma made most of her daughters clothes as they were growing up. Norma instilled the values of education, hard work, independence, and self-sufficiency in her children.

Her children remember many of the good family times, big Davis and Jarboe family get togethers and holidays, camping trips on Rough River, summer days picnicking and playing with cousins at Allens Lake. They remember how much fun their parents had square dancing and taking an occasional long weekend to Gatlinburg or Nashville. One of Normas childrens favorite memories was the first time ever they stayed in a hotel while visiting Opryland. Opryland was awesome, but that hotel pool was the best.

Life is not always easy, and Norma saw her share of heartache, losing her husband when she was only 40. But she picked herself up, stumbling here and there. She achieved a personal goal of obtaining her GED and then went on to complete Cosmetology school.

Norma was proud to watch her children grow to become successful, independent, free-thinking individuals, even though that meant, they all ended up living all over the country.

In her later years, Normas children are grateful for the familys long weekend get togethers they shared with her; in San Antonio, at Rough River, and most recently in Louisville going to the Derby Dinner.

Normas children want you to know how grateful they all are for your love and support. They all truly value all of the family and friends of their lifetime. They also want to share their gratefulness to the Little Sisters of the Poor, (Saint Josephs Home for the Aged), who have taken such great care of their mother in the recent years. Visitation will be Saturday, Aug 6 from 9:30-11:30 at Holy Family Catholic Church at 3938 Poplar Level Rd, Louisville. Mass will be at 11:30 with a luncheon to follow.
