Nancy Walters Park, age 74, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Baptist Health Hardin after a battle with cancer. She was born on November 5, 1950, to the late Thomas Walters and Helen Druen Walters of Magnolia.
Nancy graduated from LaRue County High School in 1968. She continued to pursue her education at the University of Kentucky in 1972 when she also met her loving husband of 52 years, Stephen Park. After graduation, they moved to Elizabethtown, KY, and Nancy taught at LaRue County High School from 1973 to 1978 until she decided to become a stay-at-home mom with her son, Thomas.
She later entered the workforce, beginning with Fort Knox in the personnel office, continuing at KCTCS in the Registrar's Office, and then at the Learning Lab as an English tutor.
Nancy loved nothing better than to embark on that effort to find the perfect outfit. She thoroughly enjoyed shopping at consignment stores and venues like the St James Art Fair and the Jewish Women's League sales. She was good at it and hardly ever left the house without someone complimenting her wardrobe. It gave her great pleasure.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Helen Walters; a brother, Anthony Wayne Walters; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Walters and Patsy Walters.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Stephen Park; son, Thomas Park; brothers, Buron Walters and Burton (Beverly) Walters; a host of nieces and nephews, Todd Walters, Matt Walters, John Walters, Leon Walters, Loren Walters, Lucinda Haynes, Michele Dzoba, Travis Prescott, Kelly Harrington, and Shannon Royal; two special friends, Peggy Hoskinson and Pamela Harper; her precious fur babies, Tanner and Whatley.
Cremation has been chosen and as per Nancy's wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. A private interment in the Elizabethtown City Cemetery will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, you can make donations to the Hardin County Animal Shelter.
