He was a tool and die maker in Louisville and a farmer for 51 years. He made thousands and thousands of rosaries, he even taught St. James Catholic School how to make them. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved flowers and was a believer of Mary the Blessed Mother.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John C. and Annetta Bowles and one brother, Lawrence Bowles.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nora Downs Bowles; two sons, Kevin (Susie) Bowles and John Robert (Jennifer) Bowles, both of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Elaine (Bill) Mink and Theresa (Charles) Conder, both of Elizabethtown; one sister, Mary Edith Moore; one brother, Melvin (Mary Anne) Bowles; 12 grandchildren, Steve, Tiffany, Mattie, Brad, Patsy, Katie, Brittany, Hannah, Abby, Landon, Ashlynn, and Levi; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at St. James Catholic Church with Father Michael officiating. Burial follows in St. James Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2021 at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown and continues after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
