

She was born in Summersville, KY., on February 2, 1927, to Linnie Warren and Elisha Owen Hall of Green County, KY. She married Amos Lewis Bloyd of Greensburg in 1946. They remained a devoted, Christian couple for 70 years until Amos’ death in 2016. Dorothy attended school in Greensburg and was a graduate of Green County High School, class of 1946.
Dorothy loved music and enjoyed singing. She sang in the church choir and would frequently entertain her family and friends with her favorite hymns and songs. She also enjoyed listening to entertainers, especially country music and Elvis impersonators. She took great pleasure in making people laugh. She also liked new experiences. She and Amos traveled throughout the United States, especially to Florida, and visited Europe.
Dorothy was proud of her career as a bank teller at the old First National Bank. Her skill and expertise were rewarded with her advancement to Head Teller and her position as a trainer for new tellers. She enjoyed her interaction with the customers.
Dorothy was a member of Mount Washington Baptist Church. While living in Elizabethtown, she was an active member of Severns Valley Baptist Church. She was a Christian witness to family and friends. She was a proud Republican and a member of the Republican Women’s Club. Her political interests were her passion.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Linnie and Owen Hall; her husband, Amos, her brothers, Kenneth, Charlie and Ronnie (Dyke) Hall; and her cherished granddaughters, Michelle and Gina Frailly.
She leaves behind a sister, Jean Hall Bale; her devoted children, Danny (Deborah) Bloyd and Judy (Dan) Frailly; grandchildren, Amy (Bill) Bloyd Robinson and Michael (Heather) Bloyd; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Ian Robinson, and Shane, Hunter and Whitney Bloyd; numerous nieces, nephews and a special family friend, Pat Coppage.
The funeral will be Tuesday, February 18 at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 306 College Street, Elizabethtown, KY 42701. Visitation will be from 11 am until the time of service. Bro. Steve Lawson will officiate.
Burial will be private at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff.
