He was a native of Larue County and retired from GE in 2000 after 37 years of employment. He loved to follow his granddaughters' play softball at Central Hardin, pitching horseshoes, fishing and UK basketball, but most importantly, he loved his family and their Saturday dinners.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Russell Ward and Naomi Lemons Ward and a brother-in-law, Matt Lage.
Survivors include three daughters, Ange (Steve) Smith, Tina (Scott Braden) Martin and Renita (Taylor Clayton) Preston all of Elizabethtown; four grandchildren, Kailey Martin, Sam Smith, Macey "Mad Dog" Martin and Case Preston; the mother of his daughters, Bettye Ward and three sisters, June Lemons, Norma (Gary) Wells and Jennifer Lage and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Wilson officiating.
Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continue after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
