Saving families from a burning building to rescuing teachers and students from IT emergencies, William’s heroic acts of kindness do not end in death. He was born in Chicago in 1971 to Lorrie Federmeyer Black and Jose Luis Ibarra, and loved his parents very much. He fondly would share many memories he had on Beverly Lane, or the park across from his grandparents’ house. He attended John Hersey High School, as well as Eastwood High School before majoring in computer science with a minor in business management at the University of Texas at El Paso and working at Triumph Public High School. Triumph was a special place to him because he believed everyone, staff and teachers, paved a pathway of hope for their students. This touched his heart every year during graduation.
William met the love of his life, Ines, while working at Sunland Park Mall in 1997. Who would have thought “BD” aka “bookstore guy” and the “hotdog girl” would hit it off? After a domestic partnership of 14 years, they were finally ready to wed in 2011 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
They were unable to have children of their own, but their beautiful red nose Pitbull, Ginger, was enough to give their love to.
William and his cousins made wonderful memories of what families are made of. He fondly remembered his times with Mike and Chuck causing havoc, Sergio and Ramen noodles, and Reno in the back of the station wagon traveling from Illinois to Texas listening to the same cassette for endless hours.
William will always be remembered for his quick wit and his thought-provoking memes, which at times were slightly disturbing. For every birthday, we will hear William say, “Thank you, __.” Quickly followed up with a “for being born.” We could not have asked for a better son, cousin, nephew, godson, grandson, uncle, friend, and husband. We will miss William every day. He will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
He was preceded in death, by both sets of grandparents, his uncle Leo, and is survived by his family and friends.
