Bill Lewis, 81, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016 at his home in El Paso, Texas surrounded by his family. Bill was born on February 10, 1935 in Sand Lake, New York. After serving with the Marines during the Korean War, he moved from New York to El Paso in 1958.
Bill was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was the cornerstone of his family, and could be counted on by everyone who knew him. He was married to his loving wife, Lucy, for 35 years. “The best thing that ever happened to him.” He was a Marine in the truest sense of the word.
After “retiring” from the Marine Corps as a Master Gunnery Sergeant, and from the Fort Bliss Water Plant, Bill worked with BEMAR and Health Facilities Solutions.
Bill is survived by his wife, Lucy; his children John, Sharon, Michele, Michael, David, Ralph, Erin, Sherrie, and Laura; and siblings Karol, Charles and David.
He was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Aura, and sisters Lynn and May.
A special thank you to Hospice of El Paso, and the ICU Nurses and staff at Sierra Providence East for their loving care and support.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mark's Catholic church at 9:15 AM on Tuesday, March 29th, followed by a committal service at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 11:00 AM. Family and Friends will gather at St. Marks’s Catholic Church at 12:00pm.
